a. Global mindset is described in five parts:
i. As human beings, we are limited to the amount of information we can acquire and process. That means that we are constantly learning to achieve organization goals.
ii. We are selective on the information we absorb and bias on how we interpret that information.
iii. Our current concept are derived from the past and guide our thought process, if a new idea is creditable we either toss that concept or change our mindset. The likelihood we change our mindset depends on the self confidence of that individual.
iv. Every organization is a collection of individuals with individual mindsets. Depending on who has the power determines how each mindset takes shape or influences within that organization.
v. Organizational Mindsets are changed and evolved in four primary ways:
1. New experiences which influences change.
2. Change in relative power of different individuals.
3. Change in organizational and social process through which members meet and interact.
4. A change of mix members comprising the firm that creates a wrinkle on everyday activities.
b. People value a global mindset by combining speed with accurate response. The benefit derives from the fact that, while the company has a grasp and insight to a local market it needs to build cognitive bridges so that they can keep the competitive advantage. People value this because this gives them the opportunity to advance and succeed in the same organization.
c. Cultivating a global mindset is the key factor in how a company perceives global business opportunities and what strategies it develops for capturing these opportunities, creating and supporting an environment where such a mindset can develop must be a critical issue for senior management.
