Identify the primary functions of management
“Management is the procedure of competently achieving association objectives with and from side to side people,” (blurtit.com, 2007). There are four primary functions of management: planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These four management concepts are seen throughout Kudler Fine Foods and are essential to company operating smoothly.
Planning is the reviewing of current strategies in order to best develop goals for an organization. It also involves outlining the best plan in an effort to meet those objectives. The staff members exhibiting the planning concept are the Kudler Fine Foods President, the Director of Finance and Accounting, and the Director of Administration and Human Resources.
Organizing is the management function that decides how a company’s resources are best used. Those resources include “the firm’s human, financial, physical, information and technical resources,” (Gomez & Mejia, 2002, p.6). The staff members exhibiting the organizing concept are the Kudler Fine Foods President, Director of Administration and Human Resources, Director of Finance and Accounting, and Director of Store Operations.
Leading is the management function that directly deals with people. It is the concept of bringing staff together to work towards a common goal, the success of the company. The staff members exhibiting the leading concept are the Human Resources Assistant, Store Managers, and Assistant Store Managers.
Controlling “means monitoring employees’ activities, determining whether the organization is on target toward its goals, and making corrections as necessary,” (Barnat, 2005). This function would be preformed by the Kudler Foods President, Director of Finance and Accounting, Director of Store Operations, Director of Administration and Human Resources and Computer Support Specialist.
