People around the world have different ways of living because of their cultural differences. In some families, parents spend much time with their child, while in others, parents spend much time at work. In some Chinese-Canadian families, parents spend most of their time at work and leave their children at their grandparents’ place. In Canada, most parents will go straight home after work so they can spend time with their family. Although a Chinese-Canadian family spends more time to earn more money to provide their children for a better future, these children do not receive much attention from their parents.

Even though, some Chinese-Canadian families may be wealthier, they are not happy. Many Chinese-Canadian families are quite endowed with money; thus, they spend a lot to please their children. However, Canadian parents like to spend quality time with their children and give them the attention they need instead of spending a fortune to satisfy their children’s material desire. Canadian children do not ask much from their parents and they will try to earn money after fifteen years of age, but Chinese-Canadian parents will not ask their children to work until they did graduated from college or university.

Some Chinese-Canadian parents give their children everything money can buy, which cause their children to listen to their parents only when their parents spend money on their children. In contrast, Canadian children are allowed to do whatever they want, but when their parents will talk to them, they will listen and do what parents say. Also, Canadian families spend more time with children and they know what their children want, but Chinese-Canadian parents do not know what their children want.
In brief, Chinese-Canadian families work hard for their children to afford their children a better life, but they often forget to give care and attention. I think both parenting styles have cost and benefits. I...
