What is Art?
The philosophical concept of art refers to a diverse range of human activity’s and artifacts that can be used to cover any or all of the arts, including literature and music (What is Art, 2007)
Often individuals refer to art as being something visual, such as sculptures and or paintings. Art can truly be in many other forms that stimulate other senses, such as music (auditory art) (Definition of Art , 2007).
Defining visual art is generally the arrangement of forms, colors and other elements that affects the sense of beauty (Definition of Art , 2007).
The main recent sense of the word “art” is roughly as an abbreviation for creative art or “fine art.” Here we mean that skill is being used to express the artist’s creativity, or to engage the audience’s aesthetic sensibilities, or to draw the audience towards consideration of the “finer” things. Often, if the skill is being used in a lowbrow or practical way, people will consider it a craft instead of art, yet many thinkers have defended practical and lowbrow forms as being just as much art as the more lofty forms. Likewise, if the skill is being used in a commercial or industrial way it may be considered design instead of art, or contrariwise these may be defended as art forms, perhaps called applied art. Some thinkers, for instance, have argued that the difference between fine art and applied art has more to do with value judgments made about the art than any clear definitional difference (Refrence Aesthetics, 08)
What is Beauty
Beauty is known as a major theme in philosophy known as aesthetics.
Green philosopher Pythagoras saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. Pythagoras noted that objects that were proportioned according to the golden ration were seen as unattractive.
Symmetry is also very important due to it suggesting that absence of genetic or acquired defects....
