There are many types of belief systems. It all depends on the religion and its culture. Many beliefs have to do with the worship of gods, reading sacred texts and attending religious events. In order for a religion to exist, a belief system has to also exist. Without a belief system, there would be no religion. Religious belief systems also play an important part in many cultures around the world. Some cultures may not have a strong religious belief system while other cultures do. Belief systems also play an important part in forging laws in many countries. In the following paragraphs, I will talk about my religious beliefs in my religion, which is Christian Catholic.
Religion is commonly defined as a group of beliefs concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions and rituals associated with such beliefs (Wikipedia, 2008). Most of the major religions have evolved over the centuries into what they are today. In many cultures and times, religion has been the basic foundation of life, permeating all aspects of human existence (Fisher, 2003). Religion is passed on from generation to generation. My religious beliefs were passed on from my relatives. My family has believed in the Catholic faith for many generations. Since I grew up with the Catholic faith I went to Catholic Church my entire childhood and religious studies at the church with other children like myself. There we were taught about how we evolved as human beings and the rules and values of living our everyday life. The chief teaching of the Catholic religion is that God is interested in individual human beings. Who can enter in to relations with God, the Trinity, the divinity of Jesus, the immortality of the soul of each human being and all humans being accountable at death for his or her actions in life, with the ultimate award of heaven or hell.
