Imagine a place were people die of torture everyday. Most of these people getting tortured are being tortured out of pure suspicion of a crime with no proof. Well, you don’t need to image this is reality, its happening as your reading this right now in china. People are getting tortured for no reason, or because they practice/teach a different religion then the Chinese religion. Theses are not the only reasons China tortures people, authorities claim this but no investigation is taking and these people may be getting tortured or arrested just because Chinese “officials” feel like it. In 2006 more people were giving the death penalty in china then everywhere else on the world combined. Most of these people were helpless people such as elderly people, children or unemployed and did not commit a crime of violence. The reality is Chinese citizens have never had the rights they deserve as a human and that this is happening everyday.
This affects everyone in china, mostly the tortured people, but their family, and friends. The Chinese government could be called a stakeholder. As could the Chinas police force and its judges. It’s quite apparent that three of the groups involved just don’t care that this is happing. The tortured, family, and friends of the tortured all care about this matter and wish it was stopped. However, the stories the civilians of China have heard or witnessed have created a society of trepidation were anyone that disagrees is to scared to stand up and rebel against China and its government.
One would think that since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone should be free from torture and degrading treatment, that every person should have freedom from arbitrary arrest and exile, and that people should have the right of peaceful assembly and association, that the United Nations would step in and stop this from happening.
