To Improve Society

If I could do something to improve our society, I would want to help reduce the increasing rate of global warming. Global warming is the increase of the earth’s surface temperature, which, in turn, heats the earth’s atmosphere. Global warming has occurred throughout the earth’s history, but has recently become more drastic because of so much industrialization.
The increasing rate of global warming has to do with a few key factors, which result in green house gas emissions. Green house gases include carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. These green house gases enable the atmosphere to hold on to heat that normally would leave the earth’s system.
The key components that contribute to the increasing amount of pollution of the earth’s atmosphere are human activities. We pollute the atmosphere with just about everything we do. Burning garbage, driving cars, and over-filling land fills produces the excess gases our atmosphere doesn’t need, which is the leading cause of the breakdown of the ozone layer. Recycling our aluminum, plastic, and glass would ease our electricity use. Using less electricity helps reduce the burning of fossil fuels, which causes the green house gas carbon dioxide to be formed.
There are ten things we can do to help make our environment safer and healthier.
• Reduce, recycle, and reuse
• Using less heat and air conditioning
• Changing you light bulbs to a florescent light bulbs
• Drive little as possible and drive only if you really need to
• Buying products that are energy efficient
• Using less hot water
• Turn off lights and other appliances when your done using them
• Plant trees and other plants to help absorb the carbon and replace it with oxygen.
• Encourage other people around you to conserve as well
