High Salary Sports Stars

Submitted by bigbearzhu on June 8, 2008

Nowadays, basketball or football stars are very popular in public. At the same time, many of these professional sports players earn a considerably higher salary than people who take other occupations. Whether it is justified or unfair is concerned by our society.

Every time we talk about money we always relate it to economy. Behind the great deal of money these stars obtaining, there is a huge profit brought by their effects of drawing public attention. More advertisement is put on TV when they are playing games, which significantly increases income of that country. However, in my opinion, there are also several other important jobs which take up large part of income of a country, such as industry or agriculture. Sometimes, they are more essential than these sports stars.

In addition, someone claims that these professionals should be highly paid because of the characteristic of their job, sport. Sportsman need to practise every day to sustain the shape of their body, the strength of their muscles, whereas their "golden time" is much shorter than people in other fields. Nevertheless, I doubt that should all sportsman be paid the same as these stars due to the similar hard working of them? If not, I think it is unfair.

Furthermore, it is always said that these sports stars represent a healthy image of our cities or country. However, to become a healthy city or country, better medical system and improved environment is also very important and, costly.

In conclusion, I suggest that we should relatively decrease the earning of these sports professionals because we have many important things to do and also it is for the equality that we appeal everyday.
