The 11th hour
human vs. Nature
Humans are characterized by opportunism and greed
great survival strategy triggered through the human mind to recognize future and act accordingly presently to survive.
we live in a human created environment where most of our focus is on the economy
exponential growth of population; the planet cannot sustain half a billion let alone a billion people
we use oil to extract other resources. We are subsidized by oil.
People are not looking at global warming as a scientific evidence rather as an object of religion whether to believe or not believe
amplifying effects in the arctic; things are happening faster than the scientists have indicated. We'll be witnessing a change in rainfall, drought, flood, water flows patterns.
'Convergence of crises' Every living thing is facing a declining rate ;no signs of stabilization or improvement.
90percent of big fish are lost in the sea less than a century.
Deforestation. Mostly, trees don't grow back. Nutrient cycling is no longer functioning.
One tree absorbs 57,000gallons of water. One tree away and there's flood.
It is obvious that industrialized civilization has caused unraveling damage to the ecosystem. But why aren't we responding and what are the forces that are blocking change?
Nature is perceived as property.
Fossil-fuel industry is the higher power to governments and politicians over environmental crises.
We need to find a harmony between nature and people and the way to do that is to recognize that nature too has rights.
It takes 35trillion dollars a year to do what nature is doing for us for nothing in order for technology to replace what nature is doing. whereas annual economies across the world added up to 18trillion.
The problem is the way that we are thinking. It is fundamentally a cultural problem. All other things are symptoms of problems; climate change, depletion of natural resources..etc
consumerism; change the object of desire to get to the root of the problem....
