Everyday, that moment you turn on your televisions or when you pick up a magazine we are bombarded with images. These images affect what we buy due to peer pressure, brand names and most popular, just from how the ad looks. When an ad is published in a magazine or onto your TV’s these ads are made to catch your attention. Everything on that ad is there for a reason. These ads must have something to grab your attention as soon as you see it so then you will stay interested and read on about the product. The creators of the SWEET POISON Baby-G watch ad have done just that and more. They have placed a beautiful, gorgeous girl in the middle of the page with sweet poison on her singlet top to grab your attention at your first glance at the ad.

Signifiers of this audience are the images of partying and rebellious actions. The girl is centre front and zoomed in. this ad is a strong image suggesting sex appeal. The way she has her pants low already but her hands pulling them down that little further yet again for sex appeal and to seen how rebellious she is from having a tattoo.

Some obvious stereotypes in the ad are the signifiers of stylish/fashion/sex appeal and connotations these bring with them. Girls like fashion/ the latest things all new clothing and jewelry. Fashion suggests popularity, in demand, well liked. This ad doesn’t have as much for the boys besides sex appeal, and chicks. Both girls and boys like to party, this suggests fun, out going and rebellious.

The use of colour, shape, and lines can be used to make a point, make the ad powerful and to stand out. The girls’ eyes are mysterious and sexy, giving a sense of power if you have this watch. Her tan skin with a slight glow even though its night and inside it says naughty but nice. The posture of a person can often give you a sense of what their about, what they are thinking and what mood they are in. the posture of this girl in the ad gives a sense off that...
