Introduction

Wal-Mart is the world’s largest corporation. In addition Wal-Mart is also the largest private employer in the United States of America (Yoffie and Wang, 2002). As a matter of fact Wal-Mart serves people all around the world.

Today, millions of people worldwide enjoy the rewards of shopping with Wal-Mart. From first international store in Mexico in 1991 they have grown to more than 2,600 stores in 15 markets outside the United States. (O’Higgins and Weigel, 2002)

Wal-Mart International currently includes many different store formats, membership clubs and restaurants employing more than 400,000 associates in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom. Wal-Mart's overseas stores provide American businesses the opportunity to sell their goods in these markets.

The company experienced international success through its ability to adapt unique concepts to each new country. Their associates are involved in local communities and cultures. They respond to customer needs, merchandise preferences and local suppliers. By serving each local market in its own unique way, Wal-Mart International has realized significant growth with potential for much greater development worldwide.

The purpose of this essay is to research and describe a global strategy implemented by an international business or organization. The global strategy is required to be justified in terms of global value chain, SCA, global marketing strategy, P.E.ST analysis and environment, global production, logistic management and transnational marketing management.

The global strategy of Wal-Mart will be discussed in this essay.
