1. Analyse the similarities and differences between Counselling and Psychotherapy making reference to the use of the terms ‘Counsellor’ and ‘Psychotherapist’
The similarities between counselling and psychotherapy are both are a talking treatment and both counsellors and psychotherapist are typically trained listeners that aim to offer the client   a chance to explore some form of psychological or emotion distress   they may be having in a non-judgmental, open minded and confidential environment.
Although it can be difficult to decipher the differences between counselling and psychotherapy, psychotherapists tend to have some form of additional training and are more experienced.
Another theory which can explain the difference between counselling and psychotherapy is that
“Psychotherapy requires a substantial time commitment, sometimes demanding that patients attend several times a week for several years. Counselling, by contrast is often very short-term and usually once weekly” (Feltham, 2000:5)

2. Evaluate the reasons why a person may seek counselling
A person may seek counselling for numerous reasons due to some form of trauma they may have experienced or issue they may be having.
These issues can range from anything from Depression, Anxiety to Addiction or Abuse.
It is also a way for the client to openly express themselves in complete confidentiality and without the feeling of judgment.

3. Discuss the importance of readiness to practise

In order to be ready to practise, it will be useful to firstly have a certain level of training.
We must also enjoy, be comfortable and confident talking to strangers and be ready to put our own beliefs and values aside in order to refrain from any kind of judgment.

Patience is also a must as it gives the client time to express themselves in their own time and words which shows respect and can help build the clients trust and form a positive professional relationship between client and counsellor.
