01.06 Characterization
(I know it is only suppose to be partially complete but I have read this Act/Play many times so I just wanted to get it over with.)

Lady Macbeth
  | Observations | Text Support |
Looks |   Lady Macbeth looks like a serious, ambitious woman that is not afraid to take action to get what she wants. Macbeth also knows that she is ambitious. |   MACBETH: “not lose the dues of rejoicing, by being ignorant of what greatness is promised thee” |
Actions |   She says everything to convince Macbeth that he should kill King Duncan. When Duncan is killed, she says that she will smear the servants with the king’s blood so that they will look responsible. This shows that Lady Macbeth is determined to do what is needed, no matter the cost. |   “But screw your courage to the sticking-place, and we’ll not fail…”“If he do bleed, I'll gild the faces of the grooms withal, For it must seem their guilt.” |
Speech |   Lady Macbeth is not phased by the death of King Duncan. She is readily able to erase her guilt. |   “A little water clears us of this deed: How easy is it then!” |

Interactions |   She expects Macbeth to go through with the deed, and reacts with disappointment when Macbeth tells her that he cannot kill King Duncan. |   “Was the hope drunk /Wherein you dress'd yourself? hath it slept since? /And wakes it now, to look so green and pale /At what it did so freely?” |
